Allentown, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are excited to announce the addition of four talented players to their training camp roster. Veteran arena player Defensive Linemen Alim “Abe” Koroma (6’4”, 310lbs, Penn State); and rookies OL Matt Campion (6’6, 350lbs, University of Albany), and DB’s Eddy Umeh (6’2, 213lbs, Humboldt St.) and Reggie McMillan (5’11, 190lbs, Lincoln) are part of Lehigh Valley’s most recent transactions.
Koroma was signed to the ’Hawks roster last preseason but spent the 2016 campaign playing in the AFL for the Cleveland Gladiators where he recorded two sacks.
After the Philadelphia Soul signed All-League OL David Osei, Lehigh Valley’s new offensive lineman, Campion has big shoes to fill. The 6’6”, 350lb Guard will look to compete for a spot in front of talented Quarterback Warren Smith and Ray Wagner.
The Steelhawks also added depth at defensive back with the addition of Umeh and McMillan. Umeh has arena experience after previously playing in the PIFL for the Trenton Freedom. In his 2012 season at Lincoln, McMillan tallied 36 tackles and an interception.
Head Coach Chris Thompson commented on the Steelhawks roster so far. “We recently had our first ever private invite only workout and it paid off for us big time as 40-50 invited players showed up. It allowed us to take another closer look at many guys that are on our board for the upcoming season and we were able to work with and sign big OL Matt Campion from it and there could be a couple more from it as well. Getting Alim, Reggie, and Eddy is also very exciting as two of them are veterans and proven players in this game and we feel Reggie is on the rise as a young rookie. Our camp roster is just about solidified and full of veterans and some rookies that we are all excited about. We can’t wait to work with each of them and watch everyone compete for their spot once camp starts on February 26th.”
Training camp begins Sunday, February 26th for the Steelhawks. It will wrap up with the Annual Lehigh Valley Health Network Black and Vegas Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, March 11th. A full camp schedule will be announced at a later date.
