JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that wide receiver Emughedi Umodu has been signed to the roster for the 2017 season. Umodu (6’3”,215), enters his first year in arena football and first season with the Jacksonville Sharks.
Prior to Arena Football, Umodu last signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Bears in 2015 and earned a spot on the practice squad during the 2015 season until he was released that same year. During his collegiate career, Umodu attended Northern Arizona University where he was a four-year letter winner. He completed his senior season as his team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player. In 2014 alone, he had a career high 691 receiving yards on 47 catches and five touchdowns. In 2012, He registered 35 catches for 481 yards and six touchdowns. In 2011, he completed 50 receptions for 667 yards and four touchdowns. As a freshman, he saw action in six games where he racked up 43 yards. He ended his career with a total of 1,883 receiving yards.
Umodu is a native of West Covina, California where he attended South Hills High School. During his high school career, he totaled 73 receptions for 1,406 yards and 17 touchdowns. The wide receiver helped lead his team to the state championship for all four years.
