Carolina signs Offensive Lineman Jarve Dean - Former Nighthawk joins Cobras


GREENSBORO –  Jarve Dean (6’4, 340) signed with the Carolina Cobras for his fourth season of arena football. In 2017, Dean played in 8 games helping the 12-4 Nighthawks to become the top ranked offense in the IFL. Dean helped lead Wichita Falls to a 926 rushing yard season and blocked for a 2,963 passing yard offense. In 2016, Dean helped the Nighthawks to a 11-5 record, boasting the number one ranked scoring offense with 134 touchdowns and 1,001 points scored. Dean and the Nighthawks offense ranked first in passing yards with 3,615 yards and second with passing touchdowns with 67, one shy of the league leader the Spokane Empire. Dean signed with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks in 2015. During his rookie year, he helped the Steelhawks to PIFL Semi-Final against the Columbus Lions.

Dean finished his collegiate football campaign with Lincoln University of Missouri. Prior to his time at Lincoln, Dean played at the University of Houston and during his junior season in 2009, he was one of three award-winning members of the offensive line, one of only 10 players to start all 14 games and a member of an offensive line that posted 563.4 yards of total offense and 433.7 passing yards to lead the nation in both categories. He also helped the offense record at least 390 yards of total offense in 13 games, at least 500 yards in 11 games, at least 600 yards in five games and helped lead the Cougars to a season-high of 750 yards of total offense against Southern Miss. Prior to Houston, Dean was a three-star recruit while at Coffeyville Community College and was ranked a No. 54 junior college recruit.

Dean is native of Houston, Texas and played baseball and football at Kashmere High School, where he was named First-Team 4A All-State as a senior, picked up All-District and Touchdown Club accolades, and helped win the district in baseball during his senior season.
