NCAA Division II star joins the Herd
PORTLAND- Ricky Hunt (5’10, 195) signs with the Maine Mammoths for his first year of arena football. Hunt spent 2016 with the Central Florida Jaguars in American Indoor Football (AIF). Hunt spent time as a wide receiver and running back for the Central Florida Jaguars.
Hunt started college at East Central Community College. In 2012, Hunt was a return specialist and played defensive back and earned MACJC All-State honors after the 2012 season with the ECCC Warriors. In 2013, Hunt transferred to Delta State University and switched positions to wide receiver. During his junior year in 2013, Hunt played in 10 games, starting in three, catching 68 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns. Hunt also had 14 punt returns for 221 yards and 12 kick returns for 265 yards. At the end of his junior year, Hunt earned 2013 All-Gulf South Conference First Team and was a finalist for the 2013 CSPIRE Conerly Trophy. During his senior year in 2014, Hunt started all 11 games at wide receiver, catching 37 passes for 499 yards and four touchdowns. Hunt also had 14 punt returns for 171 yards and 23 kick returns for 563 yards, ranked third all-time in a single season for Delta State. Hunt earned the 2014 Preseason All-Gulf South Conference award and elected to the 2014 All-Gulf South Conference First Team. Hunt ranks 12th in all-time receptions at Delta State with 105 total receptions.
Hunt is a native of Sardis, Mississippi and played high school football at North Panola High School. In his high school career, Hunt played wide receiver, cornerback, running back and return specialist.
