Indoor Football Veteran joins Sharks Defensive Line
JACKSONVILLE- Bryon Bennett (6’2, 293) signs with the Jacksonville Sharks for his third year of arena/indoor football. Before playing in the Indoor Football League (IFL), Bennett spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and working out for them in 2015. In 2016, Bennett signed with the Spokane Empire where he played in six games for the Empire where he racked up 14 tackles, 8.5 for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. Bennett helped Spokane to an appearance in the 2016 IFL United Bowl, losing to the Sioux Falls Storm. In 2017, Bennett joined the Iowa Barnstormers where he played in four games for Iowa totaling four tackles, two for a loss and two sacks.
Bennett played college football at Ole Miss University from 2010-2014. During his career in the SEC, Bennett set a career total of 53 tackles (10.5 TFL), four sacks, six quarterback hits, one forced fumble and two pass deflections.
Bennett is a native of Madison, Mississippi and played high school football at Madison Central High School. While in high school, Bennett was a SuperPrep All-American, named to the SuperPrep and PrepStar preseason All-America teams and was selected to the first team Class 6A All-State team by the Mississippi Association of Coaches during his senior season. After his senior season, Bennett was listed as the No.11 player in Mississippi by Rivals.com and No. 38 defensive end in the nation by ESPN.com. Bennett participated in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic as a senior and finished his high school playing career with 145 tackles and 23.5 sacks.
