Former Division II star joins the Herd

PORTLAND- DeVante Jenkins (6’3, 205) signs with the Maine Mammoths for his first year of arena football.  

Jenkins began his college playing career in JUCO with El Camino College in Torrance, California from 2013-2014. After his time in JUCO, Jenkins transferred to Southern Connecticut State University, a Division II school in New Haven, Connecticut. During his junior season in 2015, Jenkins was selected as an All-American by USA College Football, First-Team All-Northeast-10 Conference selection, All-ECAC honoree and set the third best season in SCSU history in single-season total in touchdown receptions (15) and total receptions (66). Jenkins played in 11 games and lead the team with 870 receiving yards. During his senior season in 2016, Jenkins was once again an All-Northeast-10 Conference selection can 850 receiving yards, nine touchdowns in 49 receptions and played in all 11 games. Jenkins was a team captain his entire time at SCSU.

Jenkins is a native of Carson, California and played high school football at North Torrance High School. While in high school, Jenkins was an All-State selection and helped his team reach the CIF finals. Jenkins also earned Offensive MVP awards and won the Most Improved Player award. Jenkins was elected team captain in high school during his senior season.
