Week Five Preview: Mammoths vs. Sharks

Well-rested Mammoths looking for first home win in team history

PORTLAND- Returning from their bye week the Maine Mammoths (1-2) are hosting the NAL defending champs the Jacksonville Sharks (1-3) on Saturday, May 5, 2018. If the Mammoths win, they will go 2-2 on the season, which means they will have a .500 record on the season and will claim their first home victory in team history.

Two weeks ago, the Mammoths were in Allentown, Pennsylvania when they defeated the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 45-24. In that game, Quarterback Jonathan Bane threw for an incredible 226 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions, his best game in a Mammoths uniform. The Mammoths stoute offensive line didn’t allow any sacks, allowing Bane time to find his favorite targets. Wide Receiver Devin Wilson led the team in yards with 84 yards and two touchdowns. For the defense, the Mammoths forced a total of five turnovers, two of those five were interceptions by Robert Brown, a former Jacksonville Shark earlier this season.

The Mammoths will look to have another great offensive game this week against a defense that gives up over 51 points per game. A player to watch on the Mammoths offense is Wide Receiver Devin Wilson. Wilson, also a former Sharks is going up against the team that he won a championship with last season. Wilson was released by Jacksonville, who was looking to restructure their offense. The Jacksonville offense has played sub-par so far this season, having three different starting quarterbacks in four games. Jacksonville averages just over 39 points per game. Defensive Back Robert Brown Jr., who started the season with Jacksonville, will be the Mammoths player to watch. Watch as he could get an interception or two.

Saturday's game will be shown on YouTube Live and will be posted on the team’s social media pages. That will provide all the information on how to watch the game live on your phone or your computer.

The Mammoths are on the road next week, facing the Massachusetts Pirates on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:00 pm (ET) at DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
