For two consecutive weeks the Columbus Lions have stepped up to the challenge and defeated their opponents. This has led them to the top spot in the NAL with a 7-3 record. The challenging schedule continues this week as they face defending NAL champions and rival Jacksonville Sharks. Fresh off a thrilling win over the Massachusetts Pirates, the Lions look to defend their home turf against the visiting Sharks.

The Lions are looking to continue their winning streak Saturday night in the Jungle. All season, the Lions have been a team that on paper looks like an All-Star team. Putting it all together has been the challenge for this team. Some weeks it has been the offense that has stepped up, other weeks the defense made its marks. Last week, it was the special teams as new kicker Tyler Rausa dazzled in his debut. The Lions will need all three to take down a tough Jacksonville team. The Sharks come in at 8-4 and looking to try and bolster their spot in the standings.

The Lions will face a highly-touted Sharks offense. The Sharks boast the second leading rusher in the NAL in Derrick Ross. Ross has totaled 259 yards with 16 touchdowns and has been a consistent force for the Sharks all season long. The defense will also be tasked containing a passing game including QB Adrian McPherson (1837 yards and 34 TDs). This will be the third straight week that the Lions have faced one of the top quarterbacks in the league. The Lions will look to limit the damage and continue their run of defensive excellence.

The work of the Lions offense has been well documented all season long. A high-flying passing game featuring a three-headed monster at wide receiver in Purifoy, Neal, and Fortson. Mason Espinosa continues to excel for the Lions. Don’t forget about the powerful rushing game lead by Quayvon Hicks. Hicks leads the NAL with 277 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Make sure to join the Lions Saturday night as they look to defend the Jungle against the visiting the Jacksonville Sharks. Gates open at 6pm and fans are encouraged to be early and loud.
