The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Tommy Grady has signed a deal to remain the Sharks gunslinger for the 2017 season.

The 31-year-old Grady (6’7”, 250) will enter his eighth season in arena football and his third year with the Jacksonville Sharks as the team’s quarterback. In 2016, Grady led the league with a career high 125.39 pass efficiency rating while taking the Sharks to the American Championship for a second time since joining the Sharks in 2015.

“We couldn’t be more excited about Tommy as our signal caller going into the 2017 season, Head Coach Mark Stoute said. He is one of the best arena quarterbacks in the country and we are lucky to have him.”

Grady finished the season starting all 18 games, completing 400 of his 587 pass attempts (68%) while throwing for 4,495 yards and 94 touchdowns, with only seven interceptions. Grady’s best game last season came against Portland in Jacksonville where he completed 81% of his attempts and threw 8 touchdowns.

Grady threw six or more touchdown passes without an interception in six games. He tossed a season high ten TDs in 2016 and also threw eight touchdown passes in three different games.

In his first season with the Jacksonville Sharks, Grady led Jacksonville to an appearance in ArenaBowl XXVIII and was a First-Team All-Arena quarterback. Grady has also played with the Pittsburgh Power (2014), Utah Blaze (2011-13) and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (2010). In 2012, Grady earned an MVP title, Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Arena honors under the Utah Blaze.

Grady began his collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma before transferring to the University of Utah. Grady’s most notable collegiate performance came in a 44-6 victory against UCLA, as Grady threw three touchdown passes in that game. Grady is a native of Huntington Beach, California and resides in Jacksonville, FL with his wife Lexi, daughter Olivia and are expecting a baby boy in early 2017.
