The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive lineman Terrance Woodard and defensive back Devin Ghafoor have signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for the 2017 season.
Terrance Woodard (6’5”, 300) will enter first season with the Jacksonville Sharks in the upcoming season. This will be his second year in arena football, the first being in 2015 when he was signed to the IFL’s Cedar Rapids Titans. While playing for the Titans, the DL played in three games, recording 3 tackles and one sack.
A second team All-Conference pick by College Sports Madness, Woodard had a record-breaking year at Georgia State University in 2013. Woodard played in 12 regular season games where he had 50 total tackles, 2 for loss and a forced fumble. He has a career best of 10 tackles per game, which was declared during an opener against Samford University. Woodard was named Georgia State’s 2012 Most Valuable Player of the Year on defense and was third on the team with 59 tackles, one sack, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. Woodard attended Irwin County High School where he earned All-Region Honors for three consecutive years by making 39 tackles, eight for loss and three sacks.
Devin Ghafoor (6’0”,180) will enter his first season with the Jacksonville Sharks and his second season in arena football. He first broke into arena football with the Indoor Football League’s Cedar Rapids Titans. Ghafoor played in 11 regular season games in 2016 and had 40 tackles with three interceptions with the Titans.
Ghafoor attended Slippery Rock University for his senior year in 2014. That year he appeared in all 12 regular season games and and had 37 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. His career high was 12 total tackles and 9 solo tackles. When Ghafoor attended Edinboro, he was named the university’s Defensive Player of the Year and second team All-PSAC. In a surprising twist at Edinboro in 2012, Ghafoor suited up as a wide receiver and caught 20 passes for 276 yards with two TDs. He also had time to rock the offense with 31 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. He attended Perry Traditional Academy in Pennsylvania.
