Albany President Jeff Levack Moves into Ownership Role with Columbus

ALBANY, NY - Jeff Levack served as President of the Albany Empire during the 2021 and 2022 season. Not only did he win his third championship with the team, but also won Executive of The Year at the 2022 NAL Awards Banquet. Levack has been part of this organization since 2018 and he has chosen to take the next step in his career, down in Georgia.

Entering the 2023 season, Levack will join the Columbus Lions ownership group. “Albany will always be my home and I’ll always be extremely proud of and grateful for my time with the Empire but the opportunity to join the ownership group of the Columbus Lions is just too good to pass up. Thank you to everyone in the Empire organization and all the fans.”

It is no question how much Jeff has contributed to this organization. In the office, on the field, and in the community. Majority owner Mike Kwarta said, “Jeff has been a huge reason why the Albany Empire has returned to Albany and is here to stay. I couldn’t be happier for him as he takes on this new role of ownership with the Columbus Lions. I know he will bring his experience from Albany and create a great product for the Lions. His passion for the community will continue in Albany and carry on during his time in Columbus.”

This change also comes with the internal promotion of current Albany Empire Vice-President, Matt Woods, who will step into the role as new team President. Woods said, “It is an honor and a great opportunity to take on this role with the Empire. I would like to thank Owner Mike Kwarta and Jeff Levack for this opportunity to continue the success of the Albany Empire. I take great pride in not only the organizations success on the field, but in the impact it makes on the communities of the Capital Region. I look forward to continuing to work with Jeff and facing the challenges that lie ahead as we look to bring another Championship to Albany.”

Kwarta feels this is the right person to serve as new team President, “Matt has been instrumental in setting up the road map to success on the business side for the team.”

The only question remains; can Jeff Levack bring a championship to Columbus?
