Chris Siegfried

NAL Commissioner & Director of Football Operations

Chris Siegfried brings a wealth of experience to the NAL. He has over 12 years of coaching experience in the Arena Football League and arenafootball2 league. As a Head Coach, Chris has compiled a 90-59 win-loss record over 9 seasons, and received the honor of 2006 af2 Coach of the Year as well as being named the 2006 Inland Northwest Coach of the Year while guiding the Spokane Shock to the ArenaCup Championship. Additionally, he coached the only expansion team to play in the ArenaCup in af2 League history.

Chris Siegfried brings a wealth of experience to the NAL. He has over 12 years of coaching experience in the Arena Football League and arenafootball2 league. Additionally, he coached the only expansion team to play in the ArenaCup in af2 League history.

Siegfried spent 3 seasons as an Offensive Coordinator helping his teams to a combined 32-19 win-loss record. Siegfried was the Offensive Coordinator for the expansion Jacksonville Sharks in 2010, a team that went 12-4 in the regular season and earned the top seed in the American Conference playoffs. He joined the Sharks following a stint as Head Coach of the af2’s Arkansas Twisters. Siegfried was the second most “winningest” coach in the league’s ten-year history. As the first former af2 player to be named Head Coach in the league, Chris tasted coaching success immediately when named Head Coach of Cape Fear for the 2002 season and guided the Wildcats to a 12-4 regular-season record. He finishing 38-16 over three years at Cape Fear, and lead the franchise to three playoff appearances and two division titles.

Siegfried played his college football at Division II Millersville University (PA) and earned a degree in Business Administration. He also spent time as a Contender on “American Gladiators Orlando Live,” and he appeared in the movie “The Waterboy” as a stuntman performing football-related stunts and in the movie “Radio” as an assistant coach. Chris is also a successful Realtor in Florida.  "He has been a multi-million dollar producer every year since becoming licensed and has qualified for the Orlando Regional Realtor Association's Top Producer Club."

Chris is married to Tammi, and the couple has two kids and two dogs.  Tammi owns and operates Low Ball Louies, a chain of retail tobacco stores throughout Central Florida.

Gary Balser

NAL Director of Marketing & Sponsorships

Gary Balser joined the NAL as the Director of National Marketing and Sponsorships with over 20 years of experience creating national marketing campaigns and public relations, vendor management, developing sponsorship relationships, and organizing and planning the itinerary for national and regional events.

Gary Balser joined the NAL as the Director of National Marketing and Sponsorships with over 20 years of experience creating national marketing campaigns and public relations, vendor management, developing sponsorship relationships, and organizing and planning the itinerary for national and regional events.

Throughout his career with a national branding company, an advertising agency, a national concert promoter, along with arena football marketing,  he has formulated and implemented innovative experiential marketing campaigns with a focus on insightful marketing strategies that result in substantial brand exposure. Balser has worked with The Daytime Emmys, Arena Football, national concert tours, and movie release marketing.

In honor of his late daughter, Gary established President of the Britt Balser Foundation for TTP.  The goal of his national charity is to raise funds to fight a fatal blood disease. His fund-raising efforts have included organizing concerts with artists that include Styx, 38-Special, Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, Asia and Alice Cooper.

Gary will focus on marketing and sponsorship procurement on the national level.

Steven Shotola

NAL Director of Media Relations

Steven joins the NAL after five seasons of working on the team level as the Director of Multimedia of the Jacksonville Sharks. Steven has won multiple league awards for "Best Media" and "Best Website" and is now spearheading media demands on a league level where he works directly with teams in the realms of social media, website, and public relation integration. His role is responsible for covering the league media & news outreach of the National Arena League. Currently Steven oversees technology & digital advancements for the NAL and works with partnering companies on major future projects for the NAL online and on the turf.

Steven has also been instrumental in coordinating special events for the National Arena League including NAL Championship Media Days, Annual Award Banquets, and served as the lead media contact for National Arena League Championship games. Prior, to arena football, Steven has worked in the NFL spending several seasons working in Multimedia & Production for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. 

Steven currently lives in St. Augustine, FL where his hobbies include fishing, grilling, golf, and taking Disney World trips with his wife & kids.

George Birnbaum

NAL Director of Broadcasting

George enters his fourth season with the National Arena League where he oversees the successful live stream broadcasts of every NAL game around the nation. Birnbaum is a long-time professional in the sports industry and specializes in broadcast production> Birnbaum owns his own production company in Jacksonville, FL called Gemstone Media and services sports & entertainment clients nationwide.

Joe Clarkson

NAL Supervisor of Officials

Is an award-winning official who oversees all referees within the National Arena League and works directly with the league on rule implementation per season. This will be Joe's fourth season as the Supervisor of Officials.
