All-NAL Linebacker Zack Brown is Back

JACKSONVILLE – The 2019 National Arena League Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced today the re-signing of linebacker/fullback Zack Brown. The Sharks playmaking ironman is the second player returning from the 2019 NAL Champions under Head Coach James fuller for the 2021 season. 

Earlier this week Quarterback Mike Fafaul rejoined Jacksonville for the upcoming arena football season.Zack Brown (6’1,255) comes back for his fourth season of arena football and second with Jacksonville. In 2019, Brown played on both sides of the ball and quickly established himself as a fan favorite.   As a 1st team All-NAL Linebacker he had 32 tackles, 7.5 sacks, five pass breakups, one forced fumble,  blocked one kick, and led the Sharks in fumble recoveries with three.  While playing fullback Brown rushed 20 times for 38 yards and eight touchdowns. On the ground, both of Zack's best games came against the Columbus Lions. Midway through the regular season, he pounded two rushing touchdowns against the Lions in the Shark Tank and during the Sharks playoff run Brown faced Coach Gibson and Lions again rushing four times for 18 yards and a season-high three rushing touchdowns.

Prior to joining the Sharks, Brown played in the American Arena League (AAL). Brown was a star linebacker/fullback for the Atlanta Havoc helping them to a 2018 championship game victory. During that season Brown was named an AAL All-Star at the linebacker position. In 2017, Brown started his arena career with the Georgia Firebirds of the National Arena League where he played fullback and linebacker rushing 26 times for 79 yards and one touchdown. As a linebacker, he recorded 1.5 sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble for the Firebirds.

Brown is from Tifton, GA he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton before playing college football at Ferrum College, a Division III school in Virginia. During his college football career, he played defensive back and was a 2008 USA South All-Conference First Team player and made the USA South All-Conference Second Team in 2007. Brown played high school football at Tift County High School.
