Carolina Cobras: WEEK 5 PREVIEW

GREENSBORO, NC—  This Saturday, June 26th, the Carolina Cobras (1-2) will take on the Columbus Lions (3-1) with a chance to get back on the winning track the Cobras started on after a season opening with a road victory against the Jersey Flight that derailed following two losses in a row including last weekend’s 65-27 loss in the home opener. Recovering and returning from the Snake Pit the Cobras will face Lions Quarterback Mason Espinosa who is ranked second in the league for passing touchdowns and yards as well as a Lions defense that leads the league is fewest points allowed averaging 38 points scored from opposing offenses.

Despite a tough Lions team coming to town the Cobras have always played well against the Lions at home defeating the Lions in both of their home matchups in 2019 and who could forget the historic 66-8 National Arena League championship victory in Greensboro against the Columbus Lions. Cobras receiver Kendricks Ings shaping up to be a NAL star currently ranked second in the league for receiving touchdowns with 10 total in three games. Kendrick and BJ Bunn have made a great dual threat option for Cobras quarterback Sam Castronova as the two receivers have combined for 510 receiving yards already this season. With Cobras nation behind this team and if history between the Cobras and Lions repeats itself we may be looking at a much needed bounce back victory for the Carolina Cobras and there is no place better to get it done than the snake pit. Winning this week would but the Cobras at 2-2 which would allow the Cobras to stay in the 3rd/4th place position which keeps the Cobras in the NAL playoff race.
