Coach Res Remains Cobras Head Coach & Rises to GM

Owners Elect to Continue to Ride with Res as Cobras Leader

GREENSBORO - After a rollercoaster season filled with nail biting defeats & thrilling upset victories in 2021 Cobras fans witness a sixth ranked Cobras team upset teams in a back to back road series that rose the Cobras from last to 4th place in the NAL and immediately into a NAL playoffs run. Though the cinderella story ended in the playoffs by way of a hard fought 55-41 road game against the Empire who a week later would be crowned NAL Champions the Carolina Cobras proved once again that they are a top team in the NAL with a fan base & football team that is not to be taken lightly.

A major component into building that 2021 team was placed on the shoulders of Cobras new head coach Josh Resignalo who faced more obstacles & adversity than any coach in Carolina Cobras history yet still developed one of the most exciting playoff teams on the field this year against all odds. The Carolina Cobras Ownership extended an offer to continue Head Coach Resignalo’s tenure as Head Coach of the Carolina Cobras and to expand his role as the team General Manager where he will oversee more duties for the franchise beyond the football field.

“We couldn’t be more fortunate to have a leader like Coach Res within our organization and in our community. We are more than proud of what he has done already for our organization following an unprecedented year there is no one more fit & deserving to tackle current & future challenges for our organization to keep our team on track for success on the field & in the our front office, I am privileged to welcome him back to our organization as our coach & now general manager.” Stated Cobras Owner Rob Storm.

Effective immediately, Coach Josh Resignalo “Coach Res” will assume both roles as the 2022 Carolina Cobras Head Coach / General Manager. After the NAL lost the ability to play in 2020 due to the world wide pandemic the Carolina Cobras were one of the first NAL teams to resume operations for the 2021 season Coach Res & his staff worked tirelessly to assemble the best team available under the given climate & obstacles imposed on the team but overcame them to form one of the most proactive offseasons in the NAL with multiple Carolina Cobras workouts & open tryouts across the country and a high number of early offseason signings of talented players from all ranks in professional football that went unmatched within the NAL. Under the Coach Res regime there was a growing emphasis on the Cobras exploring local talent as the largest number of local Greensboro players in team history were signed for the 2021 Carolina Cobras training camp along with many local college starts from surrounding schools including University of North Carolina and East Carolina University as a number of players from those schools signed with Coach Res last season. The return of Coach Res will likely continue from that 2021 impressive foundation & league leading work ethic during the offseason.

Coach Res when asked said, “I want to thank Rob and Richard for continuing to believe in my vision for this organization and excited for the opportunity to continue on not only as the Head Coach but as the General Manager as well.” Coach Res went on to say, “I love the Triad as this is my home and where my wife and I raise our kids. It is important to be able to do what I love to do and be able to be with my family at the same time. I am excited to help grow Cobra Nation throughout the Triad and strive to continue to build one of the top organizations in the country.”

Coach Josh Resignalo enters his second season as the head coach of the Carolina Cobras, third season with the team and fifth year in the NAL. His 16-year coaching career included two seasons with the Carolina Cobras (2019-Present) where he was defensive coordinator of the Carolina Cobras leading the top defense in the NAL (2019) before becoming the head coach of the team in 2020. Prior to that he was the General Manager of the Year in the American Arena League (AAL) with the AAL 2018 Champion Atlanta Havoc. In 2017, he was the head coach of the High Country Grizzlies, a former NAL team. His career also includes experience as a player, coach and scout for multiple other professional football leagues since 2006. Including the AIFL, AIFA, UIFL, AFL, SIFL, PIFL, and AIF. Coach Res played arena football in 2006 & 2007 and has coached high school football since 2006.
