Flight Re-Sign DB Willie Bailey Jr.

TRENTON - The Jersey Flight have announced today the re-signing of defensive back Willie Bailey Jr. Bailey is 6’2/185 and 27 years old.

“Bailey's length, speed, and ability makes him very difficult for opposing receivers,” Flight head coach Terry Foster said. “The plan in Jersey is to be very aggressive in our DB core, we feel his time spent in the AFL with Baltimore and Philly will assist greatly in making that happen.” Foster added “We can't wait to get things rolling, Willie and I have been in constant communication since the 2020 season was canceled.”

Bailey played high school football at Hallandale High School in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Bailey received offers from schools like the University of Miami, North Carolina, USF, and The University of Florida where he began his college career. He went on to transfer to Virginia Union University, where he had an extremely successful career.

At VUU Bailey was named CIAA defensive Rookie of the Year and 2x All American. In 2013 Bailey made 74 tackles, including a sack, and also recorded an interception at VUU. Bailey played safety at VUU and his speed and athleticism made him a star in Virginia.

Bailey has played professionally with the Baltimore Brigade in 2018. Bailey recorded 16 tackles and a pass breakup during his rookie season in the AFL. He went on to join the Philadelphia Soul in 2019.

Bailey joins a Flight defense which is expected to be a hard nosed and physical group that will bring an aggressive edge to Trenton.
