Flight Re-Sign OL/DL Armonti Carey

TRENTON - The Jersey Flight have announced today the re-signing of OL/DL Armonti Carey. Carey most recently played for the Orlando Predators in 2019, appearing in nine games and recording 11 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks.

“Armonti is a very versatile athlete that gives a powerful push on the defensive front and has also proved to be successful in the NAL as an offensive lineman,” Flight head coach Terrence Foster said. “His work ethic coupled with his controlled aggressiveness is definitely what we are looking for on our Flight defense. I am excited to get this group of defensive linemen in camp competing against our offensive line, iron sharpens iron,” Foster said.

“I can’t wait, my goal this season is to bring a ring to New Jersey,” Carey said. “Huge milestone for me as a vet. And down the line, I want to maximize my earning potential of course playing this great game and help introduce it to the next-gen so we can have more savages,” Carey said.

Carey played college football at Midwestern State where he was named second team All-lone Star Conference. Following his college career he joined the San Jose Sabercats formerly of the AFL.

“The journey has been persistent. I've literally gone through every emotion possible playing this great game we all know and love. I was first introduced to arena football back in 2015 where I had an opportunity to play with San Jose Sabercats. I didn't know much about the arena game then but it was a great opportunity for me,” Carey said.

Carey went on to play with the Colorado Crush and Corpus Christi Rage before joining Orlando. Carey has played on both sides of the ball during his arena career, making him an Ironman player. He and Jeremiah Zene Jr. will be two of the Flight’s Ironman players in 2021. During his time with Orlando, Carey was teammates with Zene in addition to wide receiver Edward “Sauce” Victorian.

Armonti and the Flight are set to begin the 2021 NAL season in April. Home games are played at Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ. Season tickets can be reserved by calling (609) 313-1233.

“What motivates me is looking in the crowd, seeing family, friends, and supporters who want to see some action and entertainment and these walls give us the platform to give them exactly what they want," Carey said.
