ATLANTA, GA – The National Arena League enters week 11 with two matchups this Saturday, June 17th with a fathers day football showcase featuring the San Antonio Gunslingers, West Texas Warbirds, Orlando Predators, and Carolina Cobras all playing this weekend with Jacksonville Sharks and Fayetteville Mustangs off this weekend. See full injury report from the teams playing this weekend.
SAN ANTONIO GUNSLINGERS (6-1)
The battle for Texas continues as these in-state rivals matchup again this weekend as West Texas has yet to defeat the Gunslingers and will have an opportunity Saturday in San Antonio. The Gunslingers have only lost one game this season and have been a top team in the NAL since week one. It appears after a bye week the Gunslingers have only gotten stronger as the coaching staff and roster will look to put on a big performance for fathers day weekend as the party continues in San Antonio’s best season in the NAL, only West Texas can spoil the fun. See Coach Shaw’s injury report.
DL - Justin Alexandre (Questionable, Shoulder)
WR/DB - Darius Banks (Questionable, Ribs)
WEST TEXAS WARBIRDS (2-6)
Historically a winning franchise, the Warbirds are having a turbulent first season in the National Arena League. However, they have been in some very close games and have gained two big wins in the NAL. The next step towards a successful NAL path would be to stun the league by beating their rival the #1 ranked San Antonio Gunslingers. It will be a heavy task and even tougher playing in a hostile Freeman Coliseum but Coach Tate Smith is not afraid nor is his Warbirds shying away from the challenge. This game is being named the Wild West Showdown and in order for the Warbirds to come home with a win they will need to have four complete quarters of good football, a strong first half may rattle the Gunslingers who are rarely error prone. See full Warbird injury report.
DB/LB - Dorell Brown (Out, Season-Ending Injury Reserve)
ORLANDO PREDATORS (2-5)
The Predators gained their first home victory of the season with a major win over the Albany Empire. The Predators racked up 68 points in the Amway Center and will look to gain their second home victory in the Jungle this time against a top 3 opponent as they face the Carolina Cobras (5-2). Unfortunately, the Predators will be without their new star quarterback Jonathan Bane, but the Preds will have their lights out defense that includes defensive player of the week Josh Jenkins who had three interceptions and two total touchdowns in his last game in the jungle. Another win this weekend in Orlando would be huge step in the right direction for this team. See Coach Walls injury report.
LB/FB - Nick Haag (Probable, Finger)
FB/DL - Freddie Booth (Probable, Foot)
OL/DL - David Beale (Probable, Finger)
WR - Darius Prince (Probable, Shoulder)
WR/DB - Delvon Randall (Probable, Shoulder)
DB - Brandon Fuentes (Probable, Leg)
DL - Richard McKensie (Probable, Back)
CAROLINA COBRAS (5-2)
Coach Fuller and the Carolina Cobras appear poised and ready for the playoffs to continue their road to the postseason this is another road game they will need to win to help secure a top four season. Saturday we will see if the Cobras will shine or get upset from a Predators team that has a fresh taste of victory from their big win over the Empire. A potential 6-2 Cobras team will look much better than a 5-3 Cobras team as move towards the end of the season, so this is absolutely a big business trip for Carolina. This week Carolina has no injuries to report.
Both games Saturday night can be watched online on the National Arena League YouTube Channel you can also go to the National Arena League website and see each game on the home page.
