Jacksonville Re-Signs Veteran Defensive Lineman Keith Bowers
Bowers Returns for Fifth season with Sharks
JACKSONVILLE – Defensive Lineman Keith Bowers has re-signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his sixth season of arena football, all of which is with the Sharks. Bowers is the longest active Jacksonville Shark residing with the team since 2016. He is the only defensive player on the Sharks roster that was part of both NAL Championship rosters from Jacksonville’s 2017 and 2019 seasons.
Bowers began his arena football career with the Sharks in 2016 where he played briefly towards the end of the season, helping the team to the playoffs, and made an appearance in the American Conference Championship game. In 2017, he played in five games for the Sharks recording 10.5 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. In 2018, he played in 15 games for the Sharks and had 24.5 tackles, 7.5 sackes, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one safety. In 2019, Bowers played all 16 games for the Sharks, recording 12.5 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one fumble recovery. He brings an explosive presence to the defensive line knocking down any obstacles in his way.
Bowers attended the University of Maryland from 2011-2015, where he played alongside former Jaguar and current Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Yannick Ngakoue. He played in 46 games and recorded 119 tackles total, five sacks, and recovered two fumbles.
Bowers is from West Palm Beach, FL, where he attended William T. Dwyer High School. In 2009 and 2010, he helped lead his team to the state Championships and recorded 15 sacks his senior year.
The Sharks are looking forward to Bowers’ return to help lead the team on another championship run.
