Jacksonville Sharks Secure Broadcast Partnership for 2020

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks have announced a partnership with the CW17 (WCWJ). The new deal will allow CW17, which has served the First Coast for over 54 years, to become the official television broadcast partner of the Jacksonville Sharks for the 2020 season. With this announcement, each Sharks home game will be televised giving fans more ways to enjoy the Sharks. CW17 Jacksonville is a CW affiliated local television station licensed to Jacksonville, Florida and is part of a duopoly with WJXT Channel 4. 

The Sharks are excited for the opportunity to expand their 2020 home games to local television, bringing all the action and excitement of the Champion Jacksonville Sharks into households throughout North Florida and South Georgia. “To be able to broadcast our games on Sundays is pretty cool,” says Sharks President Steve Curran, “this gives fans another opportunity to watch our games and see how much fun they are.”  Each Sharks regular season home game is scheduled for various Saturday Nights with kickoffs at 7pm. This year’s broadcast partnership will allow CW17 to air each Sharks home game on Sundays from 1pm-4pm, giving fans the entire weekend to enjoy the family-fun atmosphere of Sharks games. This dynamic deal will continue to build growth for not only the Jacksonville Sharks but the Sharks corporate sponsors as well, some of which have been with the team since its inception in 2010. 

“We’re excited to welcome back the Sharks to CW17. Sharks games are always a wonderfully entertaining family night out, and we look forward to extending the experience of home game weekends with our broadcasts Sundays at 1pm,” stated Bob Ellis, Vice President/General Manager of WJXT and WCWJ.

The Sharks home opener is Saturday, April 25th at 7pm. Jacksonville will face the Massachusetts Pirates with theme nights to be announced in the near future. The home opener will air on CW17 Sunday, April 26th at 1pm. See the full broadcast schedule below.
