Lions Make Roster Cuts

COLUMBUS-- Over the weekend, the Columbus Lions made the first round of preseason roster cuts. Defensive back Jawanza Adams and wide receiver K’Shun Evans were cut by the Lions.

Adams was a four-year starter for the Newberry Wolves in college and graduated in 2018 before heading to Columbus to join the Lions. In those four years he had 154 total tackles, three interceptions and 12 pass deflections, all in 45 career games.

Evans played college football at Coahoma Community College for two years before heading to Delta State University for his junior and senior seasons. At Delta State University, Evans saw the field during most of his junior season but it was his senior season when he really stood out, leading the team in catches and yards.

This was only the first round of roster cuts for the Lions and cuts are expected to continue throughout the season as coach Gibson and the rest of the staff get a look at players during camp. Final roster cuts are required by the Lions’ home opener against the Orlando Predators on June 4.
