Meet Steve Curran Who Has Been With The Sharks Since Day One
Steve Curran who is the Sharks President and Partner has been with the team since day one in 2009. He helped build the team, come up with the name, design the field, hire staff, create uniforms and logos. Curran said “We were very fortunate to have great support from day one. It was very rewarding to see over 10,000 fans at the games. The Tank was rocking. Jacksonville is a great Market with awesome fans.”
Curran wasn’t an expert in arena football when he first started. He had been to games and always had a great time. “I wanted to work in sports so when the opportunity came to start a team I jumped at it.”
He is now in charge of all the day to day operations, ticketing, marketing and sponsorship. Curran is also responsible for making sure his team is competing for a championship every year.
Curran credits his team for being so successful over the years, “since day one we have been blessed to have some awesome coaches who started and kept our winning tradition going. On the business side, Mike Adams and David Diana have been with us for years and do a great job with our Shark Nation members. Steven Shotola takes care of our social media and helps me with our advertising. A big part of our success is our community relations and group departments. With David Gleeson running them I know it's covered. But my right hand man is Tim Johnson. Not sure I could get everything done without his help. I've got a great job with a great team.”
The most rewarding part of this job for Curran is the great people. “This is a tough business. Thanks to our great fans, players, sponsors and staff we've had some very exciting seasons. It's those times that make it all worthwhile.”
Curran, like many, is looking forward to playing this season. He is excited to see the competition level go up even higher. “We can't wait to get back on the field and defend our Championship. We have a target on our backs again but I think Coach Fuller has the guys to get the job done.”
Chris Siegfried, NAL Commissioner added, “Steve Curran and the entire Jacksonville Sharks organization are an integral part of the National Arena League. Since the inception of the NAL, Jacksonville has been the NAL’s model franchise to which all others are measured. We are fortunate to have the Sharks and the leadership of Steve Curran in the NAL.”
The National Arena League and Jacksonville Sharks can’t wait to get out on the field and play this season.
