SHARKS GAIN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN KELBY JOHNSON

Jacksonville Continues to Stock Up on Lineman

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Sharks announce today the signing of offensive lineman Kelby Johnson. This will be his second season of arena football and first with the Sharks. 


Kelby Johnson (6’7, 285) signed with the Witcha Force of Champions Indoor Football in 2019. In 2016, Johnson signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent but was released later that season.


Prior to his NFL and CIF experiences, Johnson played for University of Louisville. During his junior year, he appeared in eight games. He saw action against Florida State, Wake Forest, and NC State. During his senior year he played in four games, where the Cardinals had wins over Syracuse and Samford. He also played one year at ASA College in 2013 . He was named a junior college all-conference selection, leading the team to 9-1 record. 


Johnson is from Hyattsville, Maryland where he played at DeMatha Catholic High School as an offensive tackle. While at DeMatha he started on the varsity as a freshman. During his senior year he helped lead DCH to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the WCAC title. Johnson finished his high school career as the #16 high school prospect in Maryland achieving All-State First Team honors. Prior to college he had offers from Louisville, Kansas, Kentucky and South Florida among others.
