Sharks Part Ways with Head Coach Siaha Burley

7-8 Sharks Look for New Direction in 2023

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks officially announce that Siaha Burley will not be returning as head coach for the 2023 season. The Sharks ownership group and the coach have agreed to part ways following the conclusion of Jacksonville's 12th season of arena football. This year the Sharks finished fourth in the NAL with an overall record of 7-8, Jacksonville did end up being one of the 4 teams to make the playoffs  losing by one-point to the #1 seeded Albany Empire (10-4) who went on to celebrate their second straight NAL Championship after beating the Carolina Cobras (10-6) in the NAL Championship Game 47-20.

Burley returned to the Sharks after previously delivering two NAL championships to the team (2017,2019). This season the Sharks started the year 0-3, Jacksonville battled back winning four out of their next five games but failed to secure a home playoff game losing the last 2 games of the regular season and finishing overall at 7-8.

“I want to thank Siaha for everything that he has done for the team. It was a tough decision that was based on many different factors and not an easy one to make. We wish him good luck with his next opportunity.” Said the Jacksonville Sharks team president.

The Sharks plan to announce their next head coach in the near future. For questions, email media@jaxsharks.com .
