THE ALBANY EMPIRE ADDS 2 VETS TO AN ALREADY STACKED ROSTER

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Empire is excited to announce the addition of defensive back Varmah Sonie and fullback Jeramie Richardson. Both Sonie and Richardson spent time with the Albany Empire in the AFL.

Sonie, an 5’9” 178 lbs AFL vet, broke into the league with the Portland Thunder after a standout career at The University of Northern Iowa. Sonie made his way around the AFL, spending time with the Orlando Predators, Baltimore Brigade and the Columbus Destroyers. Sonie even made his way to the NFL, signing with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cleveland Browns.

Head coach Tom Menas said “Varmah will bring great veteran leadership to the back end of the Empire defense”.

Standing at 6’1” 240 lbs, Jeramie Richardson returns to the Albany Empire after spending the 2019 season with the AFL Empire. Prior to making his way to Albany, Richardson solidified his name in the AFL, playing in Utah, Cleveland, New Orleans, Philadelphia and San Antonio. In 2017 he earned All-AFL with the Cleveland Gladiators.

When asked about the addition of Richardson, Head coach Tom Menas replied with “We are happy to add this new dimension to our running game with the signing of Richardson”.
