THE ALBANY EMPIRE IS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN WITH A WIN OVER THE COLUMBUS LIONS


ALBANY, NY The Albany Empire is back in the win column after a tough 3 week stretch with a 67-48 victory over the Columbus Lions. Playing in a rare Sunday game at home, The Empire found great success on both sides of the ball. 


Quarterback and captain Sam Castronova showed himself to be a dual threat quarterback tonight, with 6 touchdown passes, as well as rushing for 62 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Empire’s rushing attack came into its own tonight, with Trevon Shorts leading the pack with 40 yards on 6 attempts and 1 touchdown. 


Captain Dwayne Hollis lit up the gridiron this afternoon on both sides of the ball, with 5 receptions for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns, as well as 1 interception and 2 passes broken up on defense. Hollis making a strong case for Ironman of the week with his high level play on both sides of the ball.


The Albany Empire travels back to San Antonio next week to avenge their week 10 loss against the Gunslingers. The Empire will be returning home to take on the Orlando Predators on July 16th at 7pm.
