THE ALBANY EMPIRE SECURES FIRST SEED PLAYOFF SPOT WITH WIN OVER SAN ANTONIO


ALBANY, NY- The Albany Empire solidified their spot at the top for the 2022 NAL Playoffs tonight with a nail-biter of a win over San Antonio, 61-55. 


Quarterback Sam Castronova proved himself a dual-threat QB yet again, throwing for 248 yards and 6 touchdowns, as well as rushing for 3 TDs. WR Darius Prince was unstoppable, with 4 TDs and 129 yards. WR Aaron Wascha scored the Empire’s other 2 touchdowns. 


The Empire defensive unit stepped up when they needed it most, with a Dwayne Hollis interception to seal the win. The secondary played a big role in tonight’s win, with Marvin Ross, Farrean Toney, Marquel Wade, Dwayne Hollis and Nick Haag all contributing pass breakups. 


With Jacksonville falling to Carolina 62-55, The Empire will face the Sharks next week, July 30th at 7 pm at the MVP arena. Tickets are on sale now at Albanyempirenal.com/tickets.
